Wye Valley Camp and Paddle

Location: British Canoeing camping field, Toll Paddock, Hoarwithy. A simple campsite with a water tap, temporary toilets, and direct river access.

Accommodation: Camping using personal tents and small campervans.

Catering: No fixed plans yet but likely to be left for participants to make their own arrangements.

Transport: Make your own arrangements, we’ll try and arrange car sharing nearer the time.

Cost: Will depend on numbers by expected to be around £15 per person to cover the camping and toilet rental. On top of this, you’ll need to pay for your own food and transport.

Activities: Activities will be planned for Saturday and Sunday to suit those people attending but is very likely to include multi-craft (kayak, canoe, SUP, SOT) trips from Holme Lacy back to the campsite, the campsite to Ross on Wye and possibly a something going through Symonds Yat rapids for those with suitable experience.

All activities will be led by approved club leaders and in accordance with existing club risk assessments.

Although the main reason for going is to paddle, it’s not compulsory, if you just want to go for a walk, sit by the river or even mess about in it, that’s fine. If you are planning on paddling you should have completed a Discover or 1 Star course or have similar experience, and be capable of doing full-day river trips, if you are unsure about this please ask.

Club Kit: All club equipment will be available to use and we may bring the club canoe trailer along.
